SUMMARY OF POSITION:

 

Grind welded machined and fabricated parts to print requirements.  Meet internal and external customer needs, making continuous improvements and attaining departmental goals/objectives.  This will require moving materials/product by hand or forklift to or from destinations as required for production, storage or shipment.  Work with Grinder II to acquire skills to be promoted to Grinder II level.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Inform management of any part or equipment defects to ensure prompt response to the problem.
  • Use Epicor ER to log into and out of jobs.
  • Has full knowledge and inspection practice to ensure conformance to quality department specifications.
  • Grind and/or vibrate parts to the required finish, efficiently and productively.
  • Ensure on-time delivery and quality of product to internal and external customers.
  • Maintain the equipment and tooling in the proper working condition.
  • Work closely with the welders as required to ensure quality of the product.
  • Recommend/implement process improvements.
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping in and around the working area.
  • Ability to work with others in groups, demonstrating an ability to get along and work with others.
  • Will be required to train others as necessary.
  • Must adhere to all safety rules and regulations and promptly notify management of any hazardous, unsafe condition or personal injuries while on the job.
  • Keep work area and equipment in a neat and orderly condition.
  • Find and report welding errors.
  • Work under direct supervision of team lead or supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • High School graduate or GED or specialized training beyond high school or related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Language Skills:  Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively.
  • Reasoning Ability:  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Computer Skills:  General word processing and manufacturing software knowledge.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to lift, carry, push, pull, grip, and grasp up to 35 lbs.  Employees also frequently bend, twist, and reach and may stand and/or walk up to 8-10 hours per day
  • Safety Glasses required at all times on plant floor.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment as required.

 

Work Environment

 

While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Job consists of working in a manufacturing facility. Job could consist of making changes by hand or by running machinery equipment.
