RETAIL ASSOCIATE | JOB DESCRIPTION 

 

SUMMARY 

At Magnolia, the Retail Associate is responsible for connecting with Take Away and Silos Food guests in genuine and authentic ways, sharing information about products, and providing guests with exceptional service. This position maintains food and product stock in Take Away and Silos Food and also fulfills to-go orders for guests. This position works from Magnolia Table and Silos Food locations in Waco, Texas. It reports to the Assistant General Manager and has no supervisory responsibilities. 

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Uphold Magnolia’s manifesto and values 
  • Perform cash wrap and POS duties in a timely and efficient manner 
  • Take and successfully fulfill to-go orders 
  • Educate guests by presenting and explaining the menu and answering questions  
  • Maintain stock: food in the cold case and products on the market floor 
  • Prepare and sell food and drink products by following approved recipes, preparation, and cooking or baking techniques; ensuring that all equipment is properly utilized per recipe and safety guidelines 
  • Help to maintain organization and cleanliness 
  • Ensure the highest level of guest care, in line with Magnolia’s brand  
  • Finish all product to specific visual requirements in accordance with Magnolia standards 
  • Communicate with management regarding status of products, quality control issues, problems with equipment, or unusual conditions; adhering to established loss prevention and inventory control procedures 
  • Handle, prepare, and store food in ways that prevent foodborne illnesses and ensure compliance with all food safety standards
  • Maintain a clean and safe working and shopping environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned 

 
QUALIFICATIONS  

  • Hard skills: Competent with register systems/POS, basic math skills 
  • Soft skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; high level of ownership, accountability, and initiative; strong prioritization skills; ability to work in a fast-paced environment while remaining calm and organized 
  • Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred  
  • Experience:  Prior hospitality experience preferred 
  • Special training or licenses/certifications: Food Handler's license required 
  • General availability: Must be available to work flexible hours as assigned, including weekends, special events, and holidays 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands and arms to reach, handle, feel; utilize fine motor dexterity of fingers; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is expected to utilize team lifting techniques when lifting bulky items or items weighing above 50 pounds and up to 120 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee operates in a fast-paced environment. This role routinely uses sinks, dishwashers, and tools to clean kitchen appliances. The employee is frequently exposed to hot water, potentially slippery floors, garbage disposals, and cleaning chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is intermittent sounds at a level sufficient to cause hearing loss or fatigue. The employee is subject to high temperatures and low temperatures. The employee is exposed to workplace hazards.
