Research Tech I/II (Kawakami Lab)
Job Summary
A full time position for a research technician is available immediately with Center for Autoimmunity and Inflammation at the La Jolla Institute for Immunology in the Kawakami lab, either experienced or entry level. The successful candidate will join a team of scientists investigating pathogenesis of allergic diseases and to develop new treatment of asthma and food allergy. The candidate will be trained in all the necessary techniques including animal handling, immunization, tissue culture, flow cytometry, ELISA, PCR and other basic cellular and molecular biology techniques. Previous lab experience with the above techniques is a plus, but a highly motivated, hard-working individual with the capacity to learn new and challenging techniques is of utmost importance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The candidate will support active research and day-to-day operations of our research laboratory and will conduct the experiments independently after a series of training.
Leveling Requirements
Candidates must have:
B.A./B.S. or higher in a biological science. Previous experience in a cellular/molecular biology laboratory is a bonus.
Theoretical knowledge of biology, immunology, cell biology or related field at the college level.
Diligent and meticulous, and be able to contribute intellectually to the project.
