Research Technician I/II in Bioinformatics - Single-Cell Sequencing (Peters Lab)
Job Summary
The Peters lab at the La Jolla Institute for Immunology (LJI) is looking for a junior bioinformatician to join our efforts in profiling immune system responses to human pathogens such as M. tuberculosis and B. Pertussisfollowing infection or vaccination. Qualified applicant will have the opportunity to collaborate with our interdisciplinary team of experimental and computational scientists working towards understanding, preventing, and curing infectious diseases. We are looking to fill a research technician bioinformatics position with experience in the analysis of single-cell sequencing data.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of Drs Julie Burel and Bjoern Peters, the research technician will assist with the analysis of large single-cell sequencing datasets generated for various projects from quality control steps to data exploration, statistics and visualization, and participate in regular internal discussions and presentations.
Leveling Requirements
● B.A./B.S. or higher in computational sciences
● Experience with analyzing sequencing data (e.g., mRNA, TCR), preferably single-cell
● Proficiency in R programming
● Knowledge of immunology is a plus
● Strong presentation and communication skills
● Positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team
● The position can be on site, remote or hybrid (must be able to attend meetings during Pacific Standard Time working hours)
Appointment and Start Date
Appointment term is typically for one year, but can be extended if funding permits.
Position and pay will depend on the candidate’s qualifications and experience
