RE Tech Advisors is currently seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and passionate Consultant, Content and Communications.  This position will support the US Department of Energy’s (DOE) Better Buildings Program to facilitate the development, promotion, and optimization of case studies, resources, partner solutions, and programs and events. We are seeking an individual with a strong background communications, editing, and website content management.  This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing ESG advisory firm to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon future.


This position is based out of our headquarters office in Tysons Corner, VA. RE Tech supports a hybrid work model with flexible work schedules that include a mix of in office and work from home.

What we are looking for in you: 


Education and Experience: 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study. 
  • 3-5 years of professional consulting experience and/or communications and website content management experience, ideally with experience in sustainability, energy efficiency, or related field. Do not include internship experience in calculating your years of professional experience; but do include it in your resume.

Essential Job Functions: 

The successful candidate will ensure consistent and timely delivery of communications materials for the DOE Better Buildings Program as well as oversee the maintenance and optimization of the Better Buildings Solution Center. This position will work across DOE, RE Tech, and subcontractor teams to coordinate information and deliverables, including the following responsibilities: 


Work with the Better Buildings DOE team to: 

  • Review, edit, and when requested draft partner solutions, case studies, fact sheets, and guidance documents for the Better Buildings Solution Center. 
  • Train Better Buildings staff on the various solution types as well as on access and navigation of the website for posting of content. 
  • Create, maintain, and ensure execution of communications schedule including both delivery dates and production timelines. 
  • Draft e-blasts, code, and schedule in GovDelivery, DOE’s email marketing platform. Serve as the primary point of contact for GovDelivery. 
  • Review/edit social media posts and provide input on content calendar in coordination with editorial calendar. 
  • Day-to-day upkeep of the Better Buildings Solution Center, a comprehensive library of case studies, resources, blogs, webinars, and program information that is the external-facing tool for the Better Buildings Initiative. 
  • Work in collaboration with DOE’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) developer team at Accenture for back-end updates. 
  • Serve as the primary point of contact to the offices, labs, and contractors that work on Better Buildings and may require assistance with web updates. The role will also serve as a liaison to EERE for the Better Buildings Library, a government archive. 
  • Maintain schedule and oversee execution of content updates, including both maintenance as well as new site builds. 
  • Work collaboratively with the design team to design new page builds and determine most effective location in the existing infrastructure to ensure result is intuitive and user-friendly. 
  • Working knowledge and experience with Content Management Systems 
  • Basic knowledge of HTML and web hosting platforms 
  • Develop positive working relationships with DOE teams, including regular communication with both technical and management stakeholders, contractors, and subcontractors. 
  • Work independently with little-to-no oversight on simple projects. 
  • Delegate appropriate tasks to entry-level team members and ensure tasks are completed correctly and on time. 
  • Exercise judgement and self-prioritize assignments daily, identifying and communicating issues before they become problems. 
  • Develop accurate, on-time and on-budget high-quality deliverables. 
  • Develop strong relationships among staff through superior written and verbal communications strategies. Develop relationships with client contacts. 
  • Exhibit strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail. 
  • Support client deliverable processes and identify opportunities for improvement. 
  • Function as a highly productive team member in interdisciplinary groups that include technical and non-technical staff. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Additional desired skills and experience: 

  • Specify in your cover letter and application if you have experience in one or more of the areas listed below. 
    • Knowledge of energy efficiency and renewable energy financing, including financing mechanisms, major players, and market trends 
    • Experience working for a government agency or department, such as DOE or EPA 
    • Experience with government contracts
