Job Title: Telecommunications Voice data and Security Technician

Job description
Installation and maintenance for voice/data networks and security cabling systems.

Qualifications

  • Min 5 years’ experience in installation voice data and security cabling devices.
  • Ability to test, terminate and troubleshoot Cat 6 cabling.
  • Ability to fusion splice, terminate, test and troubleshoot various types of fiber optic connections.
  • Ability to differentiate between types of multimedia cable.
  • Ability to terminate and install coaxial cable.
  • Ability to lead project crews of 5 or more.
  • Clean driving record
  • Ability to pass background check
  • BICSI Technician Certification is a plus
  • Corning Certification is a plus
  • Ability to read telecommunication plans.
  • Ability to walk projects and create material lists.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends when required.
  • Ability to represent organization in a professional manner.
  • Ability to document and report.
  • Basic word and excel experience.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Basic wiring of access control panels and programming a plus.
  • Highly motivated and willingness to attend training.
  • Independent and Team leader.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize a variety of test equipment to isolate, identify, and analyze equipment; troubleshoot issues and take appropriate action to resolve the problem.
  • Receive, complete, and document user-initiated work orders or trouble calls.
  • Read and disseminate telecommunication drawings and install from drawings.
  • Download and print test results.
  • Attending construction meetings.
  • Communicate and work with other trades.
  • Read and adhere to project schedules and deadlines.
  • Track and ensure project hours.
  • Fill out work tickets and take pictures.
  • Create and implement labeling layouts.
  • Documents change in scope and report them back to immediate supervisor.
  • Offers recommendations and suggestions to clients for upgrades and new technology requirements.
  • Build out IDF and MDF closet including installing cable tray, racks, Patch panels, wire management, patching and grounding.
  • Install security devices such as strikes, Rex’s, card readers, contacts.
  • Wire reader and output boards.
  • Install cameras and NVR’s
  • Terminate a wide array of multimedia jacks.
  • Handle multiple calls a day.
  • Perform other duties assigned or as required such as WAPS, or Mount cable and install AV equipment and cabling.
