Position Summary
Therma is looking for an Associate for its Energy as a Service (“EaaS”) team to help source, evaluate, and execute on EaaS opportunities with current and future clients. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, this person will work cross-functionally with key internal and external stakeholders and will play a critical role in EaaS  transactions.

The Associate is responsible for supporting a wide range of EaaS processes and initiatives, including strategy (customer targeting, financing, tax), project development and execution, and mergers and acquisition (“M&A”) activity. For project development and M&A opportunities, the Associate will lead and support processes from screening through due diligence, valuation, structuring, financing, negotiations, and post-financial close monitoring and reporting.

This role's ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong financial modeling and analytical skills, strategic-minded, a team player (no job is too small or too large mentality), and have an outstanding work ethic. This role requires strong communication, diplomacy, organization, and the ability to manage multiple different work-streams. 

  • Financial analysis, including financial modeling and sensitivity analysis
  • Assist in developing and maintaining a robust pipeline of development opportunities and acquisition targets through leveraging relationships with existing customers and networking with project developers, investment bankers, and other industry sources.
  • Initial screening and evaluation of project development and M&A opportunities
  • Project and deal-related analysis, including project / company / market due diligence, management meetings, review of materials, preparation of investment recommendations, project / investment structuring, and material legal agreement analysis and negotiations
  • Develop EaaS proposals for clients as part of bilateral discussions and in response to competitive processes
  • Monitor sector developments and economic conditions, and assess their impact on EaaS projects and the development pipeline
  • Manage relationships with third-party advisors and consultants
  • Develop presentations for senior executives and BoD to drive internal decision-making processes
  • Provide analytical point support on critical questions in the business


  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3-4 years of experience working in or for an energy development platform (renewables preferred), investment banking, private equity, or consulting
  • Strong financial modeling skills; experience with project finance, renewable energy tax incentives, and/or tax equity is a plus
  • Experience with project documentation, including Power Purchase Agreements or Energy Service Agreements, and financing documents
  • Ability to quickly establish rapport, lead and collaborate on cross-functional teams
  • Strong communication skills leveraged in writing documents, presentations, and proposals
  • Self-motivated individual who can easily function in high demand, performance-driven environment
  • Accustomed to working on multiple tasks in parallel
  • Be highly motivated and possess a strategic mindset and enthusiasm
  • Be team-oriented, recognize the accomplishments of others before the individual
