Education and Experience: 
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study
  • Internship(s), coursework, and/or experience involving clean energy, energy efficiency, sustainability, decarbonization, climate change, or a related field.

Essential Knowledge and Skills: 
  • Demonstrated passion for ESG, sustainability, and/or climate change and decarbonization, with interest in applying that passion to our client work; government programs, commercial real estate, manufacturing, non-profits – all focused on the built environment. 
  • Working familiarity with ESG, energy, climate, and/or sustainability issues in a corporate setting. 
  • Exceptional written communication skills with a propensity to write in a clear, concise manner to convey points effectively and with the appropriate tone and professionalism.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills to effectively interact with and build confidence among internal and external contacts.
  • Attention to detail and ability to review own work to ensure quality.
  • Ability to contribute to a solutions-oriented culture.
  • Ability to closely track projects and tasks to ensure on-time and on-budget high-quality deliverables.
  • High degree of initiative, proactiveness, drive, enthusiasm, energy, and follow through.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated professionalism and mutual respect of others.
  • Personal resilience and comfort operating in a dynamic, fast-paced, self-directed environment while hitting deadlines.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) to effectively generate communications, reports, graphs, charts, and presentations.

Essential Job Functions:
 
  • Deliver global consulting services as part of a project team—including ESG, sustainability and decarbonization strategies.
  • Support the deployment of low-cost energy efficiency strategies in commercial buildings, especially those employed by clients that the employee assists.
  • Support project teams in conducting ESG maturity assessments to help assess a client’s current ESG initiatives and provide recommendations on areas for improvement, and development of an ESG roadmap
  • Support client ESG data collection, tracking and reporting efforts. 
  • Collect and review utility data, benchmark data in ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager, calculate key performance metrics, and investigate potential issues and anomalies with data.
  • Contribute to preparing submissions to ESG reporting frameworks, such as GRESB.
  • Prepare materials, such as emails, reports, meeting notes, fact sheets, presentations, resource tools, and case studies.
  • Independently perform research, information finding, data collection, and QA/QC efforts as assigned.
  • Perform quantitative tasks such as data gathering and analysis, Excel calculations and modeling, development of graphs and visualizations, and data QA/QC.
  • Perform qualitative tasks such as industry research, writing reports, developing slide decks, and facilitating meetings and workshops.
  • Coordinate activities and take notes for meetings, webinars, and conferences.
  • Work across multiple clients, projects and teams simultaneously.
  • Proofreads own work to check for errors to include data entry errors, grammatical errors, typos, formatting issues, in all work products.
  • Proactively identify where work product needs additional input and attempt to identify what additional information would be helpful/necessary.
  • Keep internal project manager(s) well informed of progress and availability.
  • Build knowledge of industry, sustainability, and environmental markets and products to apply to daily tasks.
  • Perform all other duties as needed and assigned.

Additional desired skills and experience:
  • Experience benchmarking utility data in ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager
  • Direct experience in energy, asset, and/or portfolio management within one or more sectors: office, multifamily, retail, senior care, healthcare, hospitality, K-12, higher education, public sector, and/or manufacturing
  • Experience in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
  • Experience with industry reporting initiatives such as TCFD, SBTi, CDP, CRREM, RE100, etc

Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
