Primary Functions and Duties: Partner with sales leader to identify new business opportunities by segment; design approaches to target and penetrate desired audience and provide optimal return on investment. Grow ad sales revenue and exceed revenue goals by prospecting and closing new business. Partner with sales leader to identify inactive business and develop strategies to reactivate. Conduct deep-dive Client Impact Assessments, utilizing pre-call research. Manage a sales pipeline and develop a strategy for long-term sustained success. Use in house platforms to develop results-based solutions. Present and close those solutions with the help of well-crafted media proposals. Fully understand client expectations, and work with client success team and other internal stakeholders to ensure client goals/expectations are met. Upsell existing customers based on need and opportunity. Make recommendations to the campaign based on client CNA and desired outcomes. Key Competencies: High level of accountability to sales metrics + performance and adoption expectations in our sales platforms. Self-discipline to maintain outbound call cadence and meet sales goals. This is a full-time position based in the Billings Gazette newsroom, with a 24/7 digital news site and 7-day print newspaper. The ideal candidate will be a jack-of-all-trades, expected to write features, build relationships with local sports communities, cover games, participate in statewide coverage and help manage print page production. We are a digital-first team that prioritizes multimedia journalism, so experience with video, photography and social media is a plus. 406mtsports.com is Lee Enterprises’ fast-growing, Montana statewide sports website, and the work from this sportswriter will be an important part of the offerings on this site as well.
