Prepare federal and state tax returns and related documentation, to ensure that the company and its subsidiaries comply with all federal, state, local and international tax laws and regulations.  Work to minimize tax liability through sound and informed application of tax laws and regulations permitting alternative treatment of taxable items.                        




Assist in preparing federal, state and local income tax returns.

Review as needed certain federal, state and local income tax returns.

Prepare/review sales and use taxes, property taxes, GST, VAT and annual reports as needed.

Prepare federal and state estimated tax payment calculations.

Maintain awareness of new developments in the field of taxation and advise the director of those affecting the Company.

Prepare tax studies and statistical reports, as needed.

Assist in federal and state income tax audits.

Assist and quantify Company's uncertain tax positions.

Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual consolidated effective rate analysis, tax provision and overall income tax reporting under FAS 109 and FIN 48.

Assist with transfer pricing arrangements and transfer pricing studies.

Ensure proper maintenance of records.

Assist in the evaluation, implementation and maintenance of tax software from both internal and external sources.

Other duties may be assigned.



Review of various federal, state and local income tax returns as needed.                   



Working knowledge of federal and state tax return structure, supporting workpapers and apportionment factor methodology.

Ability to research, analyze and interpret tax laws and effectively communicate their applications

Working knowledge of the Internal Revenue Service's codes and regulations

Familiarity with various federal and state tax publications

Familiarity with multi-state income and franchise tax laws

Knowledge of tax research software

Excellent communication skills

High level of reading comprehension

Strong PC skills including good working knowledge of Excel

Strong work ethic

Transportation company tax compliance experience preferred

Experience with OneSource tax software is a plus



Bachelor's degree in accounting from a four-year college or university; minimum of three years related experience and/or training in federal, state and local tax preparation.
