ROLE SUMMARY

The Operational Excellence Sr. Manager is part of the Operational Excellence organization and is expected to inspire a best-in-class culture of continuous improvement that empowers colleagues and enables processes to function efficiently and effectively.  

This role is critical for achieving Kindeva’s strategic breakthrough objective of Operational Excellence in the form of a reliable, agile, lean, and efficient operations network.

The role will lead organizational initiatives, support the Lean Operating System, and drive continuous improvement and impactful problem solving in both St. Louis and throughout the Kindeva network. This leader will support, develop, and leverage a team of problem solvers to impact the business across all functional areas.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Organizational leader who embodies Kindeva’s PRECISE values.
  • Acts as a change agent who is dedicated to inspiring positive change for the site through their work.
  • Leads a team of problem solvers to support tactical business objectives and daily production while simultaneously executing transformational changes needed for long term or radical business improvements.
  • Maintains a mindset of support and collaboration; subordinates to the needs of the business.
  • Develops and supports organizational business strategy using knowledge and expertise of Lean, CI, and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Program manager for Lean Operating System; facilitates this methodology across the Kindeva network.
  • Aligns actions and initiatives to support achieving Site KPIs and strategic objectives.
  • Develops and leads strategic proposals; provides progress updates and presentations to all levels of the organization. 
  • Program/project manager for both site and network CI initiatives; coach/facilitate/lead project teams, solve problems, and implement solutions to improve operational performance by applying the appropriate tools.
  • Serves as an expert resource for evaluation and action against assigned measures.
  • Takes initiative and acts with energy individually, through direct reports, and with others in the business to drive change and complete assignments to impact the business.
  • High degree of personal responsibility; transparent in communications and approach.
  • Supports the development of team members and site colleagues in Lean and Six Sigma principles through leading/facilitating classes, kaizens, projects, workshops, and coaching/mentoring. 
  • Contributes to a Zero Defects culture by advocating the use of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies during day-to-day activities. 
  • Support internal and external audits.

Supports the vision of every colleague, every day improving their work processes through the Lean Operating System and other CI based initiatives and programs.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • EDUCATION: The successful candidate will have a minimum of 15 years of applicable experience and a BA/BS degree (or 10 years applicable experience and MS degree) in Engineering, Chemistry, Physical/Biological Sciences, Business, Integrated Supply Management, or related applicable discipline that will enable the team to meet its mission.
  • EXPERIENCE: The candidate must demonstrate:
  • Minimum 12 years of management experience.
  • Effective colleague engagement, team facilitation, quantitative analysis, and communication skills.
  • Experience with Lean Operating System, Theory of Constraints, Kanban, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen Events, TPS, TPM, DMAIC, and other Lean tools and methodologies.
  • Ability to understand the human element of site transformation activities. Understanding how to work effectively with site colleagues through the change process is required to be successful in this position.
  • Ability to effectively coach/mentor/influence colleagues and manage diverse relationships.
  • Six Sigma Green, Black Belt or Master Black Belt certification is preferred.
  • PMP Certification and/or project management experience preferred.
  • This position could require frequent time in the manufacturing areas around production equipment and may also require weekend or off-shift work to support project demands and timelines. 

 

PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS

Job will include standing, walking, sitting, ability to perform mathematical calculations and complex data analysis.  Occasional lifting may be required. 

 

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

This is a 1st Shift Position with support to 2nd and 3rd shift production. Job may require occasional weekend/evening work supporting a 24-hour/7-day operation.
