Intern, Social Media Community Manager

The Social Media & Digital Marketing Intern will assist our Social Media & PPC Strategist and Manager, Social Media & PPC Marketing with daily digital marketing tasks and longer term strategic projects. This position requires the ability to coordinate, research, curate, and produce impactful social media content for deployment across multiple social and search platforms. Beyond an interest in marketing, the Social Media & Digital Marketing Intern is very creative, with a strong eye for design and a knack for social media content creation. They exude passion and a drive for excellence in all they do, and demonstrate the ability to learn quickly and be adaptable to the needs of multiple stakeholders. The ideal candidate for this role is a go getter and a team player. In this internship they will gain experience in social media strategy and planning, digital marketing & content creation, and Google Search Advertising including keyword planning, research, and more.
This role reports to both the Manager, Social Media & PPC Marketing and Social Media Strategist team members. This is a remote position.
Responsibilities for Social Media & Digital Marketing Intern
The main responsibilities of the Social Media & Digital Marketing Intern will be to assist the Social Media & PPC Marketing Manager and Social Media & PPC Strategist on projects including but not limited to:
Community management:
- help to grow our social channel followers & product/company mentions
- monitor social media channels/brand sentiment & respond to customer outreach including comments/messages
- actively engage with K-12 educators across social channels (e.g. participating in discussions, finding/following new potential customers)
- assist in the moderation of product-specific branded Facebook groups
- recruit social media influencers as contributing content creators
- analyze/track competitive landscape (company pages, sub-communities)
- report on cross-channel social analyticsSocial media content scheduling using Hootsuite and other native scheduling tools in social media platforms.
Assist in manual lead input of social media leads for outreach by the sales team.
Social media content development, including creating brand-aligned graphics and animated videos for platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and LinkedIn.
Administrative projects in platforms such as Youtube including uploading & managing video content.
Research projects including influencer research and outreach, TikTok trend research and strategy development, Google keyword research, etc.
Assistance with project management & recording meeting minutes.
Social media campaign strategy, including ideation and execution of those campaigns.
Assist in the development of monthly reports, developing strategic insights using Salesforce, Hootsuite Analytics, Facebook Business Manager, Google Ads Manager, Talkwalker and more.
The intern will also engage in these specific project workstreams:
Daily community management & development of a community management response guide.
Pinterest content planning/board organization/tagging
Instagram content planning
Influencer marketing research and recruitment
Qualifications for Social Media & Digital Marketing Intern
Previous experience using social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, Youtube, Pinterest, Instagram, LinkedIn for professional or brand uses including in a previous internship, in a leadership role in an on-campus organization, or in a part time paraprofessional position.
A strong interest in Digital Marketing, particularly in the field of social media and search marketing.
Past experience using programs such as Hootsuite, Sprinklr, Facebook Insights, Twitter Analytics, Google Ads, etc. preferred but not required.
Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office and/or Google Business Suite.
Experience with social media design & video editing tools such as Photoshop, iMovie, Canva, etc.
Strong written & verbal communication skills and the ability to adapt/learn quickly. Previous copywriting and proofreading experience is a plus.
Strong interest in storytelling, marketing strategy, and a strong eye for graphic design.
