Job Summary:
 
The Fluids Designer provides systems design, layout, documentation, testing and training services to produce converting equipment’s pneumatic, hydraulic, lubrication and chiller systems.
 

Job Responsibilities & Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Design fluid control circuits.
  • Design and document schematics that illustrate the plumbing of fluid control system components.
  • Design and document pneumatic panel layouts.
  • Design project related databases and spreadsheets to document vital project elements.
  • Produce BOM documentation consistent with project requirements.
  • Produce labeling to accommodate both plumbing and device identifications.
  • Provide Assembly support for enclosure and machine construction.
  • Create, advance and maintain the standard symbol and common drawing library to accurately reflect design procedures.
  • Provide input as to both standard fluid system components as-well-as new technologies and hardware.
  • Provide fluid system calculations including chiller loading and air consumption.
  • Test new hardware and associated systems.
  • Provide safety analysis of pneumatic control system designs.
  • Provide support to the Electrical Design team.
  • Collaborate with others (including in person) to proactively develop broad-based personal knowledge, skills, and abilities towards key JOA competencies in order to develop, design and troubleshoot JOA equipment.

 

Occasional Job Responsibilities:

  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Education generally equivalent to an Associate’s Degree in Electro/Mechanical Technology or a related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of applicable experience in design and drafting, preferred.

  • Requires strong knowledge of pneumatic design principles as they relate to converting equipment assembly and operations.
  • Requires strong oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with key customers.
  • Strong knowledge of drafting and design procedures.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office software (word processing, spreadsheet, database, etc), AutoCad, EPlan, and Adobe Acrobat systems.

Physical Requirements:

 

PROTECTIVE CLOTHING REQUIRED: Safety glasses and hearing protection, as needed, while working in a manufacturing environment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, use hands/fingers to manipulate, handle or touch objects, tools, or controls and/or talk or hear.  The employee must occasionally, stand and/or walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and/or reach above shoulders.  The employee must be able to travel approximately 20 – 25% on company business.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds while moving files or papers.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The employee occasionally works in proximity to moving mechanical parts, in high, precarious places, in proximity to fumes or airborne particles, and near sources of electrical shock.
