How you can make a bigger difference: 

 

The Development team includes 15 staff and currently raises over $14M in philanthropy and $7 – 64M through government each year, to support the agency’s annual budget of $230M. The ideal candidate is an experienced, “can do” professional who brings related experience, creativity, and flexibility to his/her work.

 

A member of the Institutional Relations (IR) Team, the Government Grants Manager reports to the Director of IR, and is responsible for managing a portfolio of city, state and federal government grants that support programs, operations, and capital projects of The Jewish Board. This role is responsible for managing city, state and federal grants throughout the grant lifecycle, from initial RFP identification and submission to ensuring effective, timely reporting.

 

Some responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Research and identify potential funding and program development opportunities for the agency; Review RFPs, secure decision to apply from leadership, and write, or supervise the writing of, proposals and related documents in response to appropriate government solicitations (RFPs)
  • Serve as project manager and work collaboratively with program and budget staff to develop proposal content, including proposed program structure, staffing, clinical models, and budget
  • Work with the IR Team to develop outcome measures, logic models, and other grant-related documents; Track, prepare and/or review all grant reports, ensuring all grant reports are submitted on time with quality; Track all prospective, pending and current grants to ensure spending, reporting and implementation are completed as proposed
  • Research and assess community needs data, programmatic data, and funding opportunities to align prospective grants with agency services
  • Coordinate with Legal and Fiscal departments to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal systems and that organization registrations are active (e.g. SAM, PassPort, eRA Commons, Grants Gateway, OSC, MOCS, etc.)
  • Other duties as assigned

 

 

Qualifications 

The Jewish Board is currently looking for talented individuals of all cultures, religions, races, and gender expressions with the following qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field required, with a minimum of 3 years of related work experience
  • Experience with, and knowledge of government funding systems/processes is required
  • Understanding of New York human service delivery landscape and the provider community as well as mental health care, child welfare, and related systems preferred
  • Excellent expository writing, copy editing, and research skills required, with strong attention to detail
  • Strong computer experience particularly in Microsoft Office and government procurement and grant application systems
  • Familiarity with complex budgets and ability to analyze budgets and financial documents
