The Investment Analyst is responsible for researching, analyzing and recommending mutual funds, exchange traded products, separate account managers, 3rd party model portfolios and alternative investments. In addition, this individual will assist in the construction and management of discretionary asset allocation model portfolios. This professional will work closely with sales professionals and other Wealth Management staff to ensure effective delivery of investment recommendations and solutions to our financial advisors.

Responsibilities

  • Collects, analyzes, and evaluates both quantitative and qualitative data on product solutions utilized on the advisory platform
  • Assists in the construction and management of discretionary asset allocation model portfolios used by the firm’s client base
  • Produces written analysis and recommendations on mutual funds, exchange traded products, separate account managers, and alternative investments
  • Presents investment manager and product recommendations to investment committees
  • Assists in the maintenance and development of product recommended lists
  • Assists financial advisors in implementing advisory products into client portfolios
  • Conducts on-site investment manager due diligence meetings
  • Publishes white papers and conducts conference calls to educate financial advisors on timely industry topics
  • Represents Janney at industry events, firm-wide conferences and participates in client presentations

Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years of investment and/or wealth management experience
  • Direct experience conducting investment manager research & due diligence strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of the financial services industry including mutual funds, exchange traded products, separate account managers and alternative investments
  • Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in finance, economics, or a related field
  • Series 7 and 66 licenses preferred, or must be obtained within 9 months of hire
  • CFA designation or progress made towards the CFA designation is preferred

Skills

  • Detail oriented with proven balance of analytical decision making and adept communication
  • Demonstrated skills in time management and prioritization of tasks
  • Strong communication skills with a high-level of professionalism and ethical standards
  • Highly motivated, committed and responsible, with a demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Technical proficiency in Morningstar Direct and Microsoft Excel strongly preferred

This role will be hybrid, the individual will work approximately three days per week in-office. In order to work on-site in our Philadelphia Corporate Headquarters, individuals will be required to show proof of vaccination.
