The Sales Manager, Sacramento Metro Region, will manage all sales direct and indirect in the Sacramento Metropolitan. The territory is South to Kern County Line, North to the Oregon Border, West to Alameda County, East to Nevada Border, covering Caltrans Districts: 2, 3, 6, 10.  The candidate will be responsible for driving sales of their assigned territory. Sales will be attained through authorized channels, but it is important that the candidate understands and is comfortable with direct, quota-based sales.

What you will be doing:

  • Consult with potential customers to understand their needs; identify and suggest equipment, products, or services that will meet those needs
  • Speak directly with new customers or clients to explain features and merits of products or services offered. Demonstrates product or services and assists in the best application of products or services. Answers all questions concerning a product or service, with appropriate coordination of sales negotiations where required
  • Analysis needs to ensure the proposed equipment meets the requirements of the client
  • Closes transactions and takes orders; calculates and quotes prices
  • Function as company representative at trade association meetings; responsible for coordinating trade show activities
  • Use data to project sales, determine targets, and identify potential new markets
  • Maintain ongoing customer relationships for spot opportunities of add-on sales, ensure smooth transitions to implementation teams and drive ongoing customer satisfaction. Use technical knowledge of product offerings to support and build sales
  • Provide technical training to clients; communicates customer feedback for future product developments


What you need to be successful in this role:

  • Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or technical school) Preferred, Field of Study: Business Administration, Communications, or related field
  • Work Equivalent, Field of Study: Computer systems or similar field highly preferred
  • Honorable Discharge from any of the Service Branches, highly preferred
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience selling complicated engineered solutions for public agencies
  • Proficient knowledge of computer programs used for traffic and business, traffic signal controllers and traffic detection equipment
