The Associate Vice President will conduct project management and business development activities such as client outreach, proposal preparation/presentations, interviews, and contract negotiations. The qualified individual serves as project manager and Principal-in-Charge for large multi-disciplinary projects with specific experience in transportation planning and engineering with strong leadership and communications skills as well as a successful track record of public and private sector client services.  Opportunity to lead a group of strong professionals with a core client base and expand the company’s position as a market leader in transportation planning and traffic engineering consulting services.



What you will be doing:

 

  • Manage projects and market state, regional, and local agencies, and private clients in the fields of transportation planning and traffic engineering while building and managing relationships with key clients.
  • Develop and maintain client partnerships.
  • Cultivate strategic thinking to grow business.
  • Participate in coordination meetings and consults with management and other staff.
  • Collaborate with engineers and planners to create more efficient methods and maintain profitability.
  • Identify innovative solutions for clients.
  • Define client needs and develop proposals for project delivery.  

 

What you need to be successful in this role:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or technical school) Required, Masters' Degree preferred, Field of Study:  Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, or related field 
  • Professional Engineer (PE), Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE), Project Management Professional (PMP), Professional Transportation Planner (PTP) or American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certificate preferred
  • Minimum 15 plus years as an expert in the transportation planning/engineering industry
  • Significant specific project management and/or lead technical work experience is preferred in several of the following disciplines including, but not limited to: Transportation Policy, Circulation and Mobility Planning, Multimodal Corridor and Area Studies, Travel Demand Forecasting, Highway and Transit Project Development Support, Complete Streets/Sustainability, Non-motorized Transportation, Transit Planning, Goods Movement, Parking, Traffic Impact Studies, Traffic Operation/Micro-simulation, Safety Assessment
  • Understanding of the transportation industry in general with a strategic market understanding and trends affecting the future of transportation
  • Excellent technical reputation and well networked in the transportation industry
  • Strong strategic leader, mentor, and motivator of diverse staff
  • Experience directing and managing projects
  • Excellent communications skills with a passion for transportation industry
