Application Development Engineer

 

Job Summary:

The Application Development Engineer will help execute IHS’ digital transformation by helping us build infrastructure, partner with business leaders to add value, and support digital project planning and rollout. Reporting to the Senior Application Development Engineer, this individual will ensure the application engineering needs of the organization are met in accordance with the duties and responsibilities listed below.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Perform development work, primarily but not exclusively in service of our digital community.
    • Full-stack development of a single-page application using Vue, Express, and Firestore.
    • Carry out data engineering, development operations, or AI applications, as needed.
  • Build and set up new development tools and infrastructure.
  • Provide DevOps techniques with GitHub and Gitlab to automate site deployment, updates, and updates for content, software, or plugins.
  • Automate and improve development and release processes.
  • Identify technical problems and develop software updates and ‘fixes’.
  • Support digital projects; partner on conception, provide expertise on technical feasibility, direct and manage work, lead technical rollout and ongoing management.
  • Maintain internal tools for managing site structure, data, security, using JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and Python.
  • Extend the capabilities of the environments using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript leading to more flexibility in design choices.
  • Support development rollout updates during quick turn-around-time scenarios.

 

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Demonstrable experience with application development and relatable duties within the Application Development Engineer’s purview.
    • 2+ years of experience highly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
  • Coding skills ideally in HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Python.
  • Ability to use PC for project management and time allocation.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines while providing support to relevant stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with internal and external stakeholders, matched by strong customer service skills and the ability to create and provide documentation where necessary.
  • Ability to document work for proper change management.
  • Ability to critically evaluate and prioritize information through a data-driven approach with experience setting and tracking KPIs within a CRM system.
    • Experience with Salesforce a plus.
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform is a plus.
  • Experience with Vue, or a similar framework, is a plus.
