PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Instrumental Editor, under general supervision, is responsible for preparing instrumental music publications at all levels for print and digital use. This position may include some product development and marketing of educational materials.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: A Bachelor’s degree in Music Education is required; successful experience in public school instrumental music (band and/or orchestra); familiarity with all styles of music (classical, pop, jazz, etc.) with strong music theory and technology skills; and some composing and/or arranging experience with music software. Recording experience and music keyboard skills are also helpful. We seek a detail-oriented individual who can work with a qualified staff and adapt to the work pace in a business environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Edit music notation for Hal Leonard’s instrumental catalog, in preparation for print, and digital publication and distribution. 2. Proofread music publications and coordinate with outside personnel. 3. As a team member, assist with the scheduling and coordination of publication production to meet company goals. 4. Work directly with instrumental team members to assist them in fulfilling their responsibilities. 5. Develop and maintain a working knowledge of company products.
