Arts and Crafts Program Specialist

An Arts & Crafts Program Specialist for gymnastics, cheer and ninja represents the YMCA as a team leader at Gymnastics Camp. The primary responsibility is to provide a safe, educational and enjoyable camp day to participants of a variety of ages. This person designs an arts & crafts curriculum to supplement alongside the daily activities of the Gymnastics Camp. Additional hours available as a Camp Counselor if desired.

Responsibilities:

• Maintains a safe environment; responsible for the supervision of the campers within the group, during each activity time
• Creates arts & crafts projects that are reflective of the Camp environment
• Write/create lesson plans so that arts and crafts run smoothly during activity time
• Maintains cleanliness of arts and crafts space, as well as supply location
• Assist staff in monitoring campers during lunch, snack time, or pool sessions
• Assist with either check in or check out times

•  Be a role model and set an example in words and actions

• Effectively communicate between staff, parents, and supervisor.
• Be a role model for younger less experienced staff and set an example in words and actions
• Attend scheduled staff meetings and trainings
• Ensure participants are having fun

Qualifications:

• Experience leading arts and crafts with youth
• Ability to effectively communicate with parents and staff
• Leadership skills
• Ability to give and receive appropriate feedback
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to take initiative to help classes run smoothly and effectively
