LOGISTICS SUPERVISOR

Job Summary:

The Shipping supervisor is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the shipping department for the facility. This includes managing shipping, trucking firms, and optimizing efficiency in the shipping process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite
• Manage vendor insurance certificates 
• Process weekly payroll data entry into our HRIS (Ceridian Dayforce)
• Assist employees with general inquiries about Dayforce and their paycheck
• Working knowledge of construction drawings/shop drawings
• Read and prepare load lists from shop drawings
• Upload pertinent data into Concrete Vision
• Collaborate with Field Operations on scheduling projects
• Schedule projects with customers by phone and/or email
• Prepare bid notices for loads on projects and email to prospective trucking firms
• Check trucks into the facility 
• Ensure all paperwork is complete prior to releasing a project for shipment
• Organize bids, assign/award contracts based on pricing and competencies
• Negotiate pricing with trucking firms
• Ensure trucking firms are on-time, and on schedule throughout the project
• Other duties may be assigned as required

Knowledge, skills and abilities required:

• High School diploma or GED required 
• College degree in business, logistics, or a related field (preferred)
• OSHA 30 hour certification and CPR/First Aid preferred 
• Proven experience in shipping and logistics management, preferably in a manufacturing setting
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in computer systems and software applications
• Good written and verbal communication skill
• Customer-service oriented
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities

Working conditions

• The role typically involves working in an office setting in a manufacturing environment
• Must be able to wear the appropriate PPE while in production areas, such as: safety helmet, work boots, eye protection, hearing protection and safety vest
• May require occasional overtime and weekend work to meet shipping deadlines
