Purpose and Scope

Ensure the stability and performance of production systems by responding to, and pro-actively identifying, system vulnerabilities and defects. Apply standard techniques and creative solutions to mitigate their risk and deliver a better operating application and infrastructure environment. Establishing uptime & performance monitoring methodologies

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and troubleshoot production systems and applications across a broad spectrum of technologies
  • Primary focus in Oracle PL/SQL or MS SQL T-SQL based applications and adjoining systems including web/mobile applications and web services
  • Assist with monitoring and responding to reported product issues from internal and external sources
  • Analyze complex application, system and infrastructure issues
  • Collaborate with numerous business and IT entities to resolve production issues (network, windows, unix, production control, development, application support, users, quality assurance, and LOB/IT management)
  • Modify application to mitigate defects and proactively reduce system exposure to future incidents
  • Participate in system testing and validation of production changes
  • Modifications to database applications utilizing SQL, PL/SQL or T-SQL, Oracle Forms
  • Familiarize on all production changes being made to the environment and actively offer constructive means to reduce potential impacts from change
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Application Support Manager

The Application Support Database Developer will report directly to the Application Support Manager

Miscellaneous

This is not an entry level position. It requires extensive SQL and moderate level programming along with an aptitude for troubleshooting production issue. It will require extensive interaction with users and other teams so communication and interpersonal skills must be excellent.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Required Qualifications

· Core competency includes hands-on application support or design/development in an RDBMS database environment using SQL/PLSQL along with Unix shell scripting

· Proficiency with writing fault-tolerant Oracle PL/SQL along with database architecture, including procedures, packages, triggers and supporting structures

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills

· Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills

· Ability to imagine multiple “out of the box” solutions to a problem

· Ability to adapt quickly to the current business challenges and technologies

· Familiarity with a broad range of enterprise technologies including sFTP, SSL/SSH, networking concepts/components, security protocols, Citrix, ETL

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team

· Successful candidates in these roles often have an innate curiosity, along with desire to satisfy the user community

Preferred Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems

· Working knowledge of web/mobile technologies

· Experience with enterprise performance monitoring tools in the tradition of AppDynamics or Dynatrace

· Knowledge of MySQL databases and its procedural language

· Experience developing or supporting highly complex database driven transaction processing applications

· Coldfusion/CFML web applications and PHP built web portals

· Oracle E*Business Suite familiarity

B: Schedule, and Expectations

This position will serve as a level II support engineer and will be required to work outside normal business hours in response to production outages & impacts. The candidates goal is to eliminate those occurrences by identifying and closing vulnerabilities before they become a production incident.

Our Strategy

  • More Customers. We invest more than $200 million per year in sales and marketing, predominately focused on new customer acquisition. We continue to scale existing sales channels and headcount, enable our sales people with demand generation and other tools, and launch new distribution channels both internally and through partners such as ERP software providers, telematics companies, and banks. For our customers, these product extensions reduce payment friction, saving them time and operational headaches. For FLEETCOR, these product extensions can increase our share of wallet with existing customers and can increase our products’ appeal and applicability to previously-unserved customer segments (e.g., non-toll urban dwellers). We also create new product offerings, developed internally or in conjunction with partners, to cross-sell to our existing customer base.
  • More Geographies. We continue to seek attractive entry opportunities in major international markets, which we intend to pursue through acquisitions and partnerships.
