Summary

American Fan has an opportunity for a Staff Accountant, based in our Fairfield, OH facility. The ideal candidate will be able to multitask and support multiple projects in the accounting department such as accounts payable lead, PP&E lead & month end close lead, among other duties. The candidate will work closely with accounting team members at our Fairfield, OH location and remotely with other locations as needed to ensure all necessary processes are completed in compliance with established policies and procedures. This candidate will need to be able to work in a fast-paced environment and possess the qualities mentioned but not limited to: strong attention to detail, organizational aptitude as well as a high degree of ethics. This role will be required to develop relationships internally and externally to maintain relationships with customers and vendors.  American Fan will consider candidates who are ready to fulfil this role in its entirety and candidates who have the aptitude and desire to quickly grow into this role.

 

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Responsible for assisting with monthly closing activities of American Fan and related

     divisions.

  • Assist loading local trial balances into our corporate reporting tool which will require follow up and continuous discussions with team members to complete account reconciliations timely, as needed.
  • Communicating frequently with American Fan Purchasing team members to ensure invoices are approved correctly and efficiently.
  • Responsible for preparing and keeping an up-to-date report of pending AP invoices
  • Multiple activities in ERP System, Microsoft Dynamics 365 including creating, approving, posting and auditing payment schedules.
  • Daily activities with customer communication include payment bookings logs, collections, dispute management, credit checks, email updates as well as other various activities as needed.
  • Weekly reporting activity to include forecasting and preparation for disputes as needed.
  • Responsible for upholding the current practices of Record to Report, GL Accounting, AP ageing, GL reconciliation and AR aging reconciliation.
  • Responsible to actively engage with P2P - vendor master maintenance, AP invoice processing, T&E accounting reimbursements, AP payments and any other account reconciliations.
  • Weekly Reviews to include topics like Aging, Bad Debt, Collections and Dispute Management
  • Weekly Review of Credit Checks
  • Keeping the company current with Certificates of Insurance as well as Lien Waivers 
  • Establish and maintain financial and compliance processes, including a strong internal control environment to assure the records of the company are in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Reconciles and investigates cash variances.
  • Assists financial month-end close process, including the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations and financial analysis for assigned accounts.
  • Prepares monthly reporting comparing actual to budget for assigned accounts.
  • Assists with internal and external audits.
  • Support the budget and forecasting activities for American Fan and related divisions.
  • Ensures compliance with GAAP, SOX, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Actively seeks continuous improvement to be implanted within owned processes.
  • Performs in a manner that would support FMD’s key values of Integrity, Velocity, and Teamwork
  • Supports other corporate projects and initiatives, as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications and Educational Requirements

 

.

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in accounting (preferred), Business, or related field from an accredited university.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in Accounting, notably experience in financial close and meeting tight deadlines
  • Manufacturing experience is a plus, but not required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in use of an ERP computer software package; preferably Microsoft Dynamics 365
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Ability to work independently or in a group setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a history of cross-functional collaboration
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
  • This position includes access or potential access to export-controlled data. Therefore, you will need to qualify as a U.S. Person, which is defined as a U.S. Citizen, a U.S. Permanent Resident or a political asylee in compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Acceptable proof of this status includes a US Passport, Permanent Resident Card, US birth Certificate or Naturalization Certificate. Maintenance, including renewal, of licensing authorization is a condition of employment. Government authorization may be a suitable alternative after review on a case-by-case basis.
