About the Position


Scale for Change is seeking a dynamic Program Director, reporting directly to the Chief Program and Strategy Officer. In partnership with the CPSO, you will develop integrated strategic program and campaign plans for a diverse set of clients.


The Program Director will lead a team of Deputy Directors and Program Managers to lead and execute client programs, including large-scale canvass operations, community organizing teams, and key capacity support to meet our clients’ programmatic goals. Under your leadership, the teams will successfully meet their qualitative and quantitative campaign goals. 

 

Responsibilities


This is a senior-level role. In this position, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop and execute top-tier advocacy, electoral, and fundraising programs.
  • Provide leadership in the development of inter-team communication and cohesiveness, sustaining culture, and supporting staff during a period of organizational growth.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and support campaign managers to build teams to implement campaign programs with excellence.
  • Manage and coach team members to reach qualitative and quantitative goals, while clearing roadblocks and supporting logistics to ensure team members can focus on the program.
  • Utilize state-of-the-art data and technology resources to ensure top performance on outcomes and quality.
  • Develop and deliver orientation and training to ensure all staff members have the tools to succeed, with an eye for ongoing leadership development.

Qualifications


Applicants for this position should bring the following knowledge, abilities, and attitude:

  • Experience in building healthy teams that allow each team member to contribute to their fullest and thrive.
  • A proven track record in developing strategic programming and/or campaigns for progressive, civil rights, social justice, or related organization(s).
  • Superb interpersonal skills, with an impressive history of forging strong relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of diverse groups, working with a multicultural workforce, and sensitivity to and appreciation of cultural differences.
  • Outstanding judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Has developed campaign or field plans (strategies to accomplish a goal).
  • Has managed a multi-layer workforce (had at least 2 levels of direct reports) to run either paid or volunteer-driven programs.
  • Has managed multiple offices, sites, or programs simultaneously.
  • Have demonstrated experience using digital tools such as VAN, OpenVPB, Hustle, and Impactive or innovative management systems to scale advocacy programs.
  • Has developed and/or managed a project or campaign budget.
  • Has developed training content and/or trained trainers and managers.
  • Has an advanced understanding of how to break large goals into smaller pieces of work, with demonstrated success managing teams to success.

We especially encourage applications from people who bring some of these additional skills or experiences:

  • Has some experience with additional campaign functions: communications, digital strategy, fundraising, etc.
  • Has worked with or built coalitions or worked with table organizations.
  • Has experience developing relationships with partners and prospective clients, while maintaining existing client relationships.

There is no formal education requirement for this position.


Salary and Benefits

This is a full-time, exempt, mid-level position with Scale for Change, with an annual salary between $100,000 and $108,000. Full-time exempt employees are also eligible for a cell phone reimbursement of up to $75/month, and employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance. This is a short-term position with an expected end date of December 30, 2022.
