Food Service Student
Job description
The Food Service Student is responsible to assist the Cook, Baker, and Food Service Director in all aspects of food delivery to assure that quality food service is provided at all times.
This is an entry level friendly -paid on-the-job training. Competitive starting wage at $14.50/hour.
This is a great position for high school and college students! Shifts are generally 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM or 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM with rotating weekends.
Qualifications:
- Must possess a minimum of a tenth grade education
- Must be able to read, write, and have basic math skills
- Pleasant, friendly, and compassionate personality
- Excellent customer service skills
- Must be able to work well with minimal supervision
- Assists with setting up tables, waiting tables, taking orders, serving food and beverages, bussing tables, cleaning/sanitizing tables, and washing dishes.
- Assists with overall cleaning and maintenance of kitchen including keeping work area clean and sanitary at all times, and cleaning pots, pans, utensils, kitchen equipment, etc. Sweeps and mops floors.
- Assists in orientation and training of new food service personnel as requested. Completes all mandatory training.
- Reviews work orders and menus to determine type and quantity of food items required. Prepares necessary advance preparation items, including freezer pulls and items needed for the next day.
- Transports hot and cold foods to and from the kitchen. Maintains high quality food presentation and proper diet according to tray card, physician ordered diet, or other meal ticket system.
- Understands and follows all Federal, State, ServSafe, and other food service regulations including maintaining required documentation (EX: logging food, freezer, refrigerator, dishwasher temperatures). Communicates areas of non-compliance and resident feedback to the Food Service Director.
- Commits to high ethical standards and complies with the Code of Conduct, state and federal regulations, accreditation standards, and Concordia policies & procedures. Maintains confidentiality of resident and employee records and information. Has a duty to report compliance concerns, significant legal risk questions, fraud, abuse, suspected or actual misconduct to a supervisor/manager or to the Corporate Compliance Officer.
