Position Summary

 

We are looking for someone who wants to join a fast-paced growing company, is comfortable with change and has the flexibility to change priorities at a moment’s notice. The candidate for this position must have had at least five years of working experience in an accounting position within a fast-evolving, and dynamic environment, preferably working as an Accountant. The candidate will preferably have had a mix of experience working in both public and private company accounting positions.

 

This role will report to the Assistant Controller.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Create financial models and forecasting tools.
  • Coordinate with other members of the finance team to review financial information and forecasts.
  • Analyze current and past financial data and performance.
  • Prepare reports and projections based on this analysis.
  • Calculate commissions payments for various sales and service department plans.
  • Identifying trends in financial performance and providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Provide leadership in systems conversions and maintenance of the general ledger.
  • Drive process efficiency and continuous improvements within department.
  • Evaluate current capital expenditures and depreciation.
  • Exploring investment opportunities.
  • Communicate with tax accounts for income tax worksheet and preparation.
  • Prepare property and sales & use tax returns.
  • Major contributor in the accurate and timely preparation of monthly close.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations including compiling appropriate supporting documentation for detailed reporting to management. 
  • Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
  • Daily treasury functions including reconciling and reporting on cash accounts, requests for funding, maintaining debt covenant documentation, and reconciling any related transactions.
  • Compiles and prepares reports for management’s review as required for general ledger accounts.
  • Responsible for documenting, improving, compiling, and maintaining policy and procedure manual.
  • Identify and resolve accounting and control issues in a timely manner.
  • Assist in year-end audit by preparing schedules and providing data to auditors.
  • Adheres to internal and external deadlines and monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures.
  • Provide internal/external research and support relating to general accounting, including review of technical GAAP literature.

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • Minimum five years of industry accounting experience.
  • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Experience with Great Plains accounting software desired.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Proven ability to meet tight deadlines under pressure.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivating with strong attention to detail. 
  • Expert-level analytical and financial modeling skills.
  • Strategic thinking.
  • Great presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems and related technologies.
  • Excellent time management and organizational ability.

Physical Requirements:

 

Employees may experience the following physical demands for extended periods of time:

  • Sitting, standing and walking (95-100%)
  • Keyboarding (40-60%)
  • Viewing computer monitor, videophone, and pager requiring close vision (40-60%)

Compensation
