Position Summary:

 

We are actively seeking an experienced, multidisciplinary Solutions Engineer to design and implement a comprehensive telecommunications solution integrating WebRTC, SIP, and robust multimedia services. The ideal candidate should possess extensive knowledge in designing and implementing telco-grade unified communication platforms. This includes ensuring high availability and developing secure, scalable APIs for system interactions in cloud environments.

The ideal candidate should also have significant testing and evaluation expertise, coupled with the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and through concise documentation.

This is a Remote/Work from Home position reporting to the Director of Enterprise Architecture.

 

What you will do:

 

  • Evaluate and contribute to the design of a multimedia communications platform using Kamailio for SIP routing and trunk configurations, and Asterisk for media processing.
  • Conduct research on commercial solutions that meet similar requirements, leveraging IMS components.
  • Produce documentation detailing performed studies and their applicability to platform and service evolution.
  • Implement WebRTC functionality for browser-based communication, alongside traditional SIP user capabilities.
  • Create comprehensive documentation covering all functionalities and use-cases, ensuring clarity for developers, engineers, and vendors.
  • Provide a detailed manual or guideline for replicating the setup on another system, including configuration files, versioning details, and custom scripts.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Development on applicable projects.
  • Provide Tier 3 support to operations when necessary for problem resolution.

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience with VoIP architecture, including hands-on installation experience deploying open-source UC (such as Kamailio, Asterisk, etc.) in a CSP, UCaaS platform to a Telco setting.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of VoIP deployments and protocols like SIP, SDP, RTP, WebRTC, and their troubleshooting. Understanding of video/audio codecs, packetization, encryption, and transport.
  • Experience with the development of unified communications features and capabilities using WebRTC, Real-Time Text, Automatic Speech Recognition.
  • Working knowledge of advanced compression techniques such as H.264/265, VP9, AV1, OPUS.
  • Hands-on experience with deployment on Private and Public network/security clouds (AWS).
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with IAC, using provisioning and configuration management tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Chef, Ansible.
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting voice protocols, including SIP, Diameter, SS7, SIGTRAN (M2PA/SUA/M3UA), ENUM, and DNS Least Cost Routing, Security Controls (TLS, etc.).
  • Working-level understanding of IMS architecture (VoIP, Video, others), LTE architecture (VoLTE).
  • Experience with commercial Softswitches, Session Border Controllers, SIP proxies, Media, and Application Servers. (Experience in the evaluation of these technologies is a plus)
  • 5+ years of experience in Networking. Full knowledge of the OSI model and a deep understanding of the 1-7 Network Layers.
  • Good understanding of Linux environments, including bash scripting, XML, JSON.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills, self-directed and able to handle multiple priorities with demanding timeframes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff to create a high-quality results-driven, team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to use discretion, make sound decisions, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Willingness and ability to work flexible hours and travel (up to 10%); will include some overnight travel.
  • Proficient in MS Office, modern communication tools for virtual teams (i.e., MS Teams)

Compensation
