Multimedia Specialist - Parks & Recreation
The Multimedia Specialist assists the Parks & Recreation Department with handling media requests, creating publications, taking photographs, shooting and editing video. The Multimedia Specialist is responsible for maintaining and updating the City of Abilene Parks & Recreation website, posts on Social Media sites, and working closely with the Communications Department.
This position exercises no supervisory responsibilities.
IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Creates and produces printed materials, posters, and flyers for various events.
Monitor daily activity on a variety of platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, Google+, and others).
Keeps current with emerging web technologies and best practices through relevant blogs and events.
Plan and perform video production tasks which include logging and selecting footage, adjusting audio, correcting color, creating graphics and special effects and compressing video projects.
Works with staff on marketing various ideas and events.
Attends various department events to take photos and videos.
Researches, writes, edits, and designs quarterly Activity Guide.
Plan, coordinate, and organize special events for the department.

Perform other job related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Variety of software systems including Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office, and other web design tools.
Cameras and editing software (both still and video).
AP style of writing for publications.
Use graphic design and layout techniques.
Self-motivate and effectively establish priorities and meet deadlines as well as multi-task to prioritize several projects.
Use videography and non-linear editing.
Proofread documents with attention to detail.
Problem solve and troubleshoot using analysis and critical thinking to resolve issues.
Bring creative ideas and programs to the department by staying current with popular trends in Social Media campaigns.
Effectively establish priorities and meet deadlines.
Professionally communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Act as point of contact and lead for all event planning committees.
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, both internally and externally.

Experience and Training Guidelines:
Any combination equivalent to experience and training to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be qualifying. Knowledge, skills, and abilities may be obtained through:
Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with video, editing software, social media, and/or television programming is preferred.
An Associate’s degree plus two years of related experience or graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Digital Arts/Graphics Design, Media Communications, Marketing, or a related field is preferred.
License or Certificate:
A valid Texas driver’s license, the ability to obtain one within ninety (90) days of employment, or a military waiver is preferred.
Essential duties require the following physical skills and work environment:
Ability to work flexible hours including mornings, nights, and weekends.
Work environment includes the possibility of working outdoors in extreme heat and cold.
With or without accommodation, ability to lift, carry, and/or pull up to 40 pounds.
Ability to travel to other work locations.
