SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Quality Manager is responsible for the Quality Assurance Program and to ensure that our program adheres to applicable customer and/or government specifications.  The manager will lead and manage the Quality Assurance team to plan, execute, and document the measurement and buyoff of all projects.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Schedule and plan the available resources in the Quality Assurance department to achieve on time delivery and on budget performance of all quality procedures on all projects.
  • Ensure the Quality Assurance Representatives have reviewed and given acceptance of finished products on the basis that all specifications and contractual requirements have been met.
  • Collaborate with Project Management and the Manufacturing team to ensure the project is meeting the necessary milestones for quality as the project is in process.
  • Documents and retains record keeping of the final inspection and shipment of tooling.
  • Maintains calibration, maintenance, and documentation of all measurement equipment used to measure customer project products.
  • Serve as quality representative to the customer and review and present project quality plans.
  • Establishes and maintains proper incoming material inspection area and associated processes.
  • Develops and monitors Quality Department KPIs for all operational processes.
  • Implements lean practices to support World Class Operational standards.
  • Develop lessons learned for quality issues and provide report out to the manufacturing team.
  • Has basic knowledge of customer and industry standards and specifications.
  • Participates as needed in QMS Audits relative to QA, to ensure compliance with Ascent, customer, and government regulations.

REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE

Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful job performance will be considered.  Typical qualifications would be:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 10 years’ experience in a quality assurance position or in aerospace tooling industry.
  • Experience in managing a quality department/team in the tooling/automation industry.
  • This position must meet Export Control Compliance requirements, therefore a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22.C.F.R. is required. For further details as to how a “U.S. Person” is determined, please see SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS below!

  • Strength in analytical areas and be able to interrogate multiple forms of data and extract/analyze information.
  • Manages time effectively and dependable.
  • Department of Defense Secret Security Clearance: Though not required of this role, individuals that have current, previous, or are willing to go through the process to obtain and maintain during the duration of employment are preferred.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

May be required to travel to other site locations during the workday and would primarily be local during the business day. However, some projects may require overnight stays as well as out-of-the-area travel paid for by the business.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary state for extended periods / 50% of the time at a computer workstation.
  • Must be able to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • May access and work in the manufacturing plant, and therefore must be able to wear personal protective gear (PPE) when required. Examples include safety shoes, eye protection, and hearing protection.
  • While performing the duties of this job, employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, caustic chemicals, vibration, and moderate noise level.
  • May be required to work overtime or weekends to meet department and business demands.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

  • Must be able to frequently walk and stand for short periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 10lbs, occasionally lift and move objects up to 35lbs.
  • Must be able to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Must be able to see, talk, hear, touch, feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • Must be able to frequently walk and stand for prolonged periods of time.
