Job Overview:

 

AdvanSix is seeking an Instrumentation Engineer in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Frankford Plant.  In this role, the Instrument Engineer will be responsible for performing initial scoping, planning, and design functions for AdvanSix capital projects. The individual will be responsible for communicating and coordinating with other disciplines including process engineering, operations, maintenance, and project management to meet the requirements of the capital project and business needs.
 

 

Principle Duties & Responsibilities: 

 

  • The individual must personally set a good example with all rules and regulations to achieve 100% universal compliance with HS&E (Health, Safety & Environmental) Procedures/Regulations.
  • Perform instrument engineering functions in a capital engineering organization.
  • Instrumentation Engineer project/design deliverables include:
    • End-to-end development of material take-offs (MTO) for each phase of a capital project including front end loading (FEL) and detailed design
    • Support development of project P&IDs
    • Participate in 30/60/90 percent design/model reviews.
    • Develop data sheets for instrumentation.
    • Size and specify flow, pressure, level, temperature, and control valves.
    • Review construction drawings.
    • Prepare construction/maintenance scopes of work.
    • Prepare project instrument index.
    • Procurement of all related equipment and devices
    • Coordinate project needs with maintenance, process, and operations.
    • Coordinate vendor support.
    • Construction inspection and support
    • Perform field surveys.
    • Support project start-up and commissioning.
  • Working knowledge of P&IDs and control logic
  • Review process and reliability scopes to support capital project execution.
  • Support team in reviewing and updating of plant and corporate instrument standards.
  • Design controls and instruments per OEM specifications.
  • Review project proposals, owner/contractor specifications and any other requirements for preparing projects.
  • Adopt and leverage AdvanSix Engineering Standards.  Maintain or support any site-specific requirements or standards if deemed necessary.
  • Work with the site personnel to understand the key issues and identify ways to improve the operation by using good engineering judgment and solutions.
  • Ensure construction scope of works and practices follow operations/execution with federal, state, local and plant codes/policies as required.

 

 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree with area of focus in instrumentation.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and eagerness to learn/develop.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • 3-5 years of experience.

 

 

Desired/Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Hands-on experience in installation, operation, and maintenance of equipment in an industrial facility.
  • Experience in a chemical, industrial, paper, or manufacturing facility with exposure to construction practices.
  • Working knowledge of CAD software, either AutoCAD, Micro Station, or both.
  • PLC or DCS experience
