Position Summary:

  • The General Accounting Leader is responsible for managing the accounting cycle and related procedures and leading a team responsible for ensuring all transactions are recorded in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This position is responsible for leading the preparation of monthly financial statements and the maintenance of the general ledger.

 

 


Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead Closing Process:  Responsible for coordinating AdvanSix’s monthly closing cycle, ensuring compliance with US GAAP as well as producing timely and accurate results.  
  • Manage and Develop People:  oversee a team of 7 people in General Accounting in multiple locations with the focus on developing high performing talent to enable increased productivity, improved processes, and future placement elsewhere in AdvanSix
  • Champion Process Improvement:  Leverage the system capabilities to drive opportunities to improve accounting processes to enhance information available to users and reduce the cycle and touch time required to execute those processes.   Coordinate with other functions to ensure enhanced visibility to information.
  • Improve Control Environment:  Look for opportunities to enhance the control structure of AdvanSix.   Partner with Internal and External Audit functions to identify and improve processes to give greater confidence to the overall financial results.  
  • Execute Special Projects:  Be a key resources to participate in ad hoc analysis, assist in acquisition integration, and participate in larger unique transactions.  

 

 


Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field; CPA preferred
  • 5-7 years of experience in accounting and using accounting principles and practices/US GAAP

  • Ability to influence, coach, and educate a team of accountants
