Position Summary: The Senior PSM Engineer (Risk Reduction) is responsible for supporting OSHA PSM and AdvanSix process safety programs with a focus on reducing identified risk.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review and prioritize risk reduction projects found during PHAs, QRAs, and other risk analysis
  • Interface with Capital Engineering to define scope and timing of risk reduction projects
  • Perform preliminary engineering for risk reduction projects ·Owner of company Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA) process
  • Interface with industry groups and guidance to identify Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (RAGAGEP)
  • Lead site Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) including revalidation of PSM covered units and newly installed projects
  • Ensure effectiveness of risk mitigation
  • Participate in auditing of PSM elements at the site and potentially other AdvanSix locations.
  • Based on past experience, become subject matter expert for one, or more, of the PSM elements for AdvanSix
  • Active participation in external leading practice organizations such as the ACC, AFPM, and the CCPS
  • Perform incident investigations as needed

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering required
  • Minimum 10 years 'experience in chemical plants through production, technical, or process engineering
  • Minimum of 4years process safety experience

Additional Qualifications:

  • Project management experience Six Sigma certification
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with hourly union and salaried coworkers at all levels of an organization
  • PHA leader experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience influencing within an organization
  • Release modeling and LOPA experience preferred
