Sr. Reliability Engineer
The AdvanSix Frankford facility is located in Northeast Philadelphia and is one of North America’s largest producers of phenol, which is sold to customers around the world. This phenol is also shipped to our Hopewell, Virginia, site, where it is used to make caprolactam, the primary feedstock in the production of nylon polymer, which is used in carpet fibers, plastics, and films. The Frankford plant also produces other chemical intermediates, including acetone and alpha-methylstyrene, which are used in a variety of applications including solvents, resins, and plastics.
The Sr. Reliability Engineer/Chief Inspector works closely with maintenance/reliability engineers, contract inspectors, operating area personnel, and all levels of the Maintenance organization to ensure the safe operation of the plant.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage mechanical integrity inspection systems for piping, storage tanks, pressure vessels, boilers, and pressure relief devices
- Direct team of contract inspectors that perform API 510, 570, and 653 inspections of process equipment, prepare reports & memorandums, construct inspection drawings, and enter inspection data into database
- Manage remaining life of fixed equipment and provide to Mechanical Integrity leader for replacement and/or upgrade
- Manage document control system of inspection reports, construction drawings, repairs, and other regulatory compliance documents
- Provide analysis of failed equipment to determine and eliminate cause(s)
- Identify and interface with preferred equipment manufacturers, specialists, and technical support consultants
- Draft maintenance job plans for specific repair and alteration activities in compliance with National Board Inspection Code, ASME, API 653, and PADEP
- Prepare formal technical reports to document repair actions, failure analyses, equipment, and process improvements and inspection findings
- Participate in site health, safety, and environmental (HSE) activities
- Develop and maintain job plans for specific repair activities
- Develop, maintain, and update maintenance documentation (e.g., repair reports, bill of materials, upgrade recommendations) for critical plant equipment
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Relevant Engineering/Technical Degree
- 10+ years of experience of mechanical design, selection, repair techniques and performance assessment of boilers, pressure vessels, aboveground storage tanks, piping, and pressure relief devices
- Knowledge and experience with National Board Inspection Code & API 510/570/653
- Experience with ASME B31.1, B31.3, and Boiler & Pressure Vessel codes
Additional Qualifications:
- PE Certification
- API 510, 570 and 653 certifications
- Knowledge and experience with API 580/581 and API 650
- Hands-on experience using SAP work management system or similar
- Experience with GE APM/Meridium software for management and documentation of inspections
- Experience with Root Cause Failure Analysis and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis
- Experience in a leadership role; temporary or interim assignment acceptable
- Experience in a unionized environment preferred
- Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to perform physical tasks in an industrial plant environment including, but not limited to climbing ladders and performing confined space entries
- Must be self-motivated and goal-oriented with proven success working independently and in a multi-functional team environment
- Able to manage multiple priorities
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
