Position Summary: The R&D scientist 1 will be an integral part of our team supporting research and development laboratory analysis activities. As a critical member of the analytical team, this person will be responsible for the IC and GC instrumentation; its sample preparations, analysis, data processing, presenting data to the business and R&D team members. This person is a primary resource for operating and maintaining the analytical equipment safely and efficiently in the R&D laboratory.


Duties and Responsibilities:

•Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical instrumentations specifically on IC and GC-MS

•Method developments on IC and GC, GC-MS

•Needs to support other analysis using HPLC, KF, DSC, TOC and its sample preparation based on priorities

•Prepares samples for the testing

•Evaluate and critically assess analytical results to provide accurate results to clients

•Strong problem solving aptitude

•Able to prioritize work, develop appropriate timelines and work to deadlines

•Maintain legible and logical laboratory records documentation

•Execute preventative maintenance, verifications and calibrations, as appropriate, on laboratory instrumentation and supporting equipment.

•Writing and following the SOP

•Follows all safety policies and maintains good housekeeping in the work area.

•Proficient PC skills (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook) and ability to learn new software and systems

•Follows all safety policies and maintains good housekeeping in the work area

•Maintain a laboratory inventory and Lab supplies to purchase as needed

•Participates in all laboratory training, tier meetings as required.

•Perform all other duties as assigned by the manager.


Basic Qualifications:

•Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry.

•Minimum two years experience in analysis Lab working specifically on IC and GC-MS

•IC and GC-MS experience from University /Industry will be considered

•Basic analytical skills, mathematical skills, and attention to detail are required.

•Basic computer skills such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

•Experience in method developments and trouble shooting of analytical instruments

•Ability to handle multiple demands and competing priorities

•Good verbal and written communication skills

•Ability to think strategically and critically analyze details

•Ability to work independently, self-starter, as well as good teamwork skills
