Position Summary: Under direct supervision, perform a variety of civil design for project executions. Support the Civil, Structural, Architectural (CSA) design team during all various phases of projects from design to start-up. Work typically performed in office and field.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The individual must personally set a good example obeying with all rules and regulations to achieve 100% universal compliance with HS&E (Health, Safety & Environmental) Procedures/Regulations.
  • Participate in safety activities such as safety observations.
  • Gain familiarity of plant underground utilities and how to identify them, and create plant excavation permits.
  • Understanding of concrete and steel design construction standards and details.
  • Basic understanding of design building codes.
  • Create 3D AutoCAD models for review, in coordination with other disciplines.
  • Understanding of civil and structural drafting using AutoCAD paper space layouts.
  • Under the direction of the engineer of record, create design drawings for plant operations such as:
    • Civil - site drainage, underground piping systems, sumps, trenches, etc..
    • Structural - concrete and steel support structures, foundations, slabs, equipment frames, pipe bridges, access platforms, ladders, stairs, etc.
    • Architectural - Floor plans, Sections, Elevations, Egress, windows, doors, stairs, etc..
  • Must be able to read and understand OEM drawings, Civil, Structural, and Architectural drawings.
  • Conduct field walk downs and appropriate fieldwork to identify deficiencies and ensure compliance to design and customer requirements.
    • Field work includes activities such as taking pictures, measuring, climbing stairs and ladders, creating as-builts, etc..
  • Ensure construction practices as required are in compliance with federal, state, local and plant codes/policies.
  • Must be able analyze field data in an operating chemical manufacturing facilities.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • Ability to create concrete and steel design drawings with applicable codes and standards.
  • Ability to create 3D AutoCAD models and 2D paper space layout drawings with speed and proficiency with AutoCAD 2017 or newer.
  • 3D AutoCAD or equivalent Certification of its use.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.)
  • Basic understanding of construction or industrial jobsites
  • Basic awareness of Safety programs and PPE requirements (i.e.. gloves, hardhat, safety glasses, steel toe shoes, etc..)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Actual field/office design experience in an industrial manufacturing facility (chemical, pulp/paper, refinery, etc.).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines.
  • Ability to work in collaboration in a multi-functional team environment.
  • Be able to climb stairs and ladders.
  • Be able to lift at least 40lbs.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field.
  • Working knowledge of 3D Computer Aided Drafting and Design in CADworX Structure.
  • Strong understanding of industrial facilities.
  • Knowledge or experience with Point Cloud and 3D scanning.
  • Knowledge or experience with surveying, and survey equipment.
  • 0-15 years of civil design experience.
