Lab-Sarma - Post-Doctoral Fellow

The Wistar Institute, 3601 Spruce Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States of America Req #662
Thursday, May 2, 2024

Postdoctoral Fellow positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. Kavitha Sarma. The Sarma lab investigates mechanisms of gene regulation through RNA-containing chromatin structures called R-loops using neurodifferentiation and cancer models. Candidates with strong interest in gene regulation, chromatin architecture, epigenetic mechanisms, and non-coding RNA biology are encouraged to apply. A strong background in molecular biology is required and some experience in analysis of genomics datasets (eg. RNAseq, ChIP-seq, CUT&RUN) is ideal. Candidates with experience in working with human induced pluripotent stem cells and neurodifferentiation models will be given preference.

Candidates should have a PhD (or equivalent) degree and must have at least one first author peer-reviewed publication.  Interested individuals should apply by submitting:

  • A CV including a list of publications and manuscripts in preparation.
  • One-page cover letter detailing the reason for their scientific interest in the lab, an outline of potential postdoctoral research projects, and career goals.
  • names and contact information for at least 3 references to ksarma@wistar.org

The Sarma lab strives to create a diverse, inclusive, and multi-cultural work environment. The lab is a core member of the Penn Epigenetics Institute which allows interactions and collaborations with many scientists with shared research interests. The Sarma lab is located in the Wistar Institute, an independent biomedical research institute founded in 1892 and located in the heart of the University of Pennsylvania Campus. The Wistar Institute provides resources to its faculty and staff that enable them to conduct cutting edge collaborative research, outstanding intellectual environments, and state-of-the-art facilities. We offer an excellent benefits package.
