Accountant II
I. Job Summary:
This position is responsible for ASC 606 revenue accounting including, but not limited to, the preparation of journal entries, account analysis, accruals, account reconciliations, internal controls, and variance analysis to support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement closing process.
II. Duties and Responsibilities:
a. Prepare journal entries.
b. Prepare monthly account reconciliations.
c. Prepare internal controls.
d. Prepare NECA reporting.
e. Prepare and provide supporting documentation with adequate explanation to internal and external auditors in a timely manner to support their audits.
f. Research and perform analysis of billing information.
g. Work with operational partners to understand trends, budget/forecast variances, etc.
h. Continuously review revenue processes for improvement opportunities.
i. Assist in or be assigned special projects as needed, including but not limited to, process improvements, automating manual processes, and reporting
j. Observes company safety procedures at all times.
k. Stewardship of the brand to include embodiment of the Shentel Way by ensuring appropriate use of the brand (name, logo, company, appearance, and attitude) within their respective team and organization.
III. Qualification Requirements:
a. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
b. Experience Level: 2 - 4 years of professional accounting experience required.
c. Special Requirements: Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and business processes required.
d. Skills Summary: Ability to work with large amounts of data. Must have intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
