About the Position: 

As a Production Manager, you are responsible for leading a team of people in a production operation to achieve operating goals and operational excellence. Production Manager’s lead shift supervisors who in turn lead hourly employees, approximately sixty-seventy personnel in total. A Production Manager leads their team to meet a variety of production objectives that may include safety, productivity, quality, maintenance, training, cost control, and standardizing and sustaining operations. They will manage performance metrics (uptime, throughput, quality control, safety, etc.) and identify improvement opportunities making data driven decisions.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the production is run in a lean are met
  • Safety – Reporting and compliance
    • The Plant must be maintained in a clean and organized manner
    • Maintain OSHA 300log
    • Support in the development of Job Safety Assessments (JSA’s)
    • Help Establish a Zero Incidents safety culture
      • Target of 1 Total Recordable Incident Rate for 2021
    • Perform Safety Audits throughout the plant via EASE initiative
    • Conduct employee safety training
    • Responsible for Environmental, Health and Safety, including waste management
    • Ensure compliance and accountability; including disciplinary process
    • Provide monthly safety score card
    • All employees are following Safety rules
    • Develop a 5S culture
  • Quality
    • Minimize quality returns/customer complaints
    • Ensure the quality of the manufactured products
    • Develop corrective actions to eliminate the re-occurrence of quality issues
    • Enforce quality procedures
  • Productivity
    • Collect, sustain and analyze KPI data
      • Internal Quality incidents
      • Scrap
      • Downtime
    • Initiate corrective actions from the KPI data gathered
    • Support in the achievement of the plants targets
      • Productivity
      • Scrap
      • Quality
      • WIP/Inventory levels
      • Others as developed
    • Implement Cost Saving initiatives that will increase the business’s profitability
      • Hoppering session ideas with direct reports
    • Ensure On Time Delivery In Full of products to our customers
    • Provide daily KPI’s to the Plant Manager by facility score card report
      • Safety
      • Productivity

      • Scrap reduction
      • Downtime
    • Work with scheduling to increase productivity
      • Attend weekly/daily meetings to provide productivity recommendations and execute plan
        • Minimize changeover plans by grouping similar products
    • Convert internal work to external work to find ways to minimize changeover time and increase capacity
    • Continue to develop strategies to maximize labor utilization

    • Manage the manufacturing team to ensure the facility meets performance goals
      • Cleanliness and organization
      • Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and safety rules are followed
      • Monitor and Manage attendance
      • Supervisors and Leads responsibilities
    • Drive accountability on the floor - Discipline employees as required, up to termination
    • Work with other departments as a cross functional team that supports the goals of the business
    • Manage supervisors
      • Provide them with proper direction to achieve the company goals
      • Establish and develop goals holding them accountable for safety, quality and performance
      • Disciplinary actions/log if needed
    • Develop Standard Operator Procedures/Standard Work to create a consistent performance in the work place
    • Review employees performance and elaborate a succession plan
    • Ensure adequate training and job responsibilities are clearly laid out for new employees

 

Education / Experience:

  • BA from a four-year college (Engineering Degree is a strong plus).
  • 10+ years of experience in plant leadership in a manufacturing business
  • Prior experience managing direct reports is a must.
  • Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources)
  • Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise.

 

Skills & Training:

  • Excellent computer skills including MS Office; ability to manage and analyze large data sets and build models in MS Excel. Knowledge using SAP a plus.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for operating plants.
  • Exceptional written, verbal skills.
  • Some travel required.
