Job Description: Jasper Holdings, Inc. (JHI) is the parent company to industry-leading automotive remanufacturers, Jasper Engines & Transmissions and Weller Truck Parts. We are market leaders in the remanufacturing of engine and driveline products. Jasper Holdings is also the parent company of Diesel USA, D&W Diesel, and Jasper Innovative Solutions, each of which operates primarily in the automotive parts distribution segment. Jasper Holdings is looking for a “hands-on” professional to bring structure and oversight to its current Outside Carrier Transportation & Logistics competencies, to understand the needs of JHI and to drive operational excellence in this area as we continue to grow and expand. The ideal candidate will have a people-first mentality and have a willingness to dig in to the “nuts and bolts” to understand how our company works, what makes Jasper successful and how we can then work with our partners. The ideal candidate will utilize prior experiences to merge with JHI’s unique culture and challenges. In this role, you will assist in providing strategic leadership to develop and optimize short-term and long-term initiatives to maintain and improve our best-in-class performance. We will rely on this Associate to play a crucial role in our team by creating a first-class distribution network, utilizing leading providers, technology, and best practices for our affiliate companies to learn from.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage relationships with external LTL, Parcel, Ocean, Air, and TL Carriers, Freight Forwarders, and Customs Brokers on both inbound and outbound freight.
  • Leverage transportation spend and carrier mix to negotiate best in class pricing and service levels. Oversee the negotiation and administration of carrier contracts.
  • Analyze shipment and invoice data to identify opportunities to reduce operational waste (accessorial charges), optimize economic order quantities, and find the best balance of cost and service. Manage strategic planning for all carrier services along with capacity planning and analysis.
  • Create and direct a carrier performance review program and create action plans to help our companies meet growth objectives for the future.  
  • Create and maintain a positive working relationship with our sourcing and supply chain teams across the Jasper Holdings family.
  • Manage claims and negotiate settlements for goods damaged by freight carriers.
  • Willing to learn the business by spending significant time on the shop floor in receiving, shipping and other areas that directly impact logistics which will include trucking, sourcing, and routing areas for many of the Jasper-related companies as well as understanding the packaging and delivery requirements of our customers.
  • Participating in a lean workshop to help learn Jasper’s Culture.

Who we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain or a related field.
  • At least 5+ years of transportation/logistics experience in a manufacturing industry.
  • Data analysis capabilities to identify cost and service opportunities by mode, carrier, lane, shipment.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and drive consensus and alignment across diverse team-based initiatives.
  • A willingness to be hands-on and invest the necessary time to understand the business from a detailed level to be the most impactful to affect change and improvement across all of Jasper Holdings.
  • A mindset of Continuous Improvement with an open and listening bias.
  • Must live within a commutable distance of Jasper, IN.
  • Must have the ability to confidently provide suggestive direction to management with regards to best practices across all transportation areas.
  • Experience in diverse modes of transportation including LTL, Parcel, Ocean, Intl Air, and TL.
