Scout is looking for a Software Engineer 1 that has a focus on growing as an engineer, learning existing tools, resources and processes. The ideal candidate for this role will be able to meet sprint commitments and goals, demonstrate continuous learning habits, and demonstrate some skills and abilities of the next level.

You'll work from the comfort of your own home and enjoy a culture of flexibility, continuous learning and innovation.

Python skills are a must have for success in this role.

Duties/Responsibilities/Primary Function:

  • Develop features and improvements to the Scout platform
  • Write unit tests to maintain test coverage
  • Participate in code review
  • Participate in the agile development process (design reviews, planning, retrospectives…

Required Skills/Abilities/Profile: 

  • CS fundamentals (data structure and algorithms)
  • Familiarity with web applications
  • Proficient with Python (or Go, Java depending on the opening)
  • Proficient with JavaScript / TypeScript / React
  • Good knowledge of MongoDB or SQL
  • Proficient with Git
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes is a plus
  • Experience with AWS is a plus
  • Good written and verbal communication
  • Ability to operate independently in a remote environment

Education and Experience:

  • 2+ years of professional experience in software development, preferably developing web applications.
  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or related field is a plus
