Ready to work with purpose? Look no further, we are hiring for a motivated, talented, and passionate Metrology Engineer I to join our St. Louis Missouri team!

 

Responsible for assigned matters of metrology, instrument calibration and instrument maintenance. Use of calibration standards to calibrate, adjust, certify, maintain, and repair instruments using approved calibration procedures.  Conduct routine test, analyze data, and document results. Troubleshoots and recommends resolution of basic instrumentation and/or systems issues.  Supports the completion of monthly calibration and cleanroom HEPA certifications schedules and/or activities.

 

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform instrument calibrations as required by monthly schedule
  • Perform or support Cleanroom HEPA certifications activities
  • Must be able to complete and pass gowning qualification for entry into aseptic core
  • Instrument/Equipment troubleshooting and repair
  • Maintain Metrology laboratory equipment/systems.   This shall include items such as procurement of instrument replacement parts and stock, laboratory test gages, etc.
  • Responsible for obtaining all necessary calibration documentation and completing administrative paperwork on instruments requiring offsite calibration.
  • Perform entry of calibration report and cleanroom testing documentation into the appropriate database.
  • Work with purchasing department to ensure proper documentation I available on instruments sent to an outside lab. Package and secure instrumentation for shipment.

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience:

Minimum 2 years science-based degree or 2 years equivalent technical Degree in areas related to the automation/process control or instrument calibration.  3 - 5 years’ experience in a pharmaceutical company instrument calibration setting is preferred.

Position requires regular onsite attendance – this position cannot be performed on a remote or telecommute basis on a temporary, short- or long-term basis.

Must have the ability to simultaneously multi-task across multiple capabilities and functions and handle multiple competing priorities and requirements, including performing site functional responsibilities, responding to frequent e-mail and phone communications, and attending multiple meetings and conference calls. Note that these activities may not be tied to core hours or preset at the site.   Must have the ability to work effectively under and manage strict production, time, and performance deadlines.

 

Must be willing and able to work beyond the hours typically defined as a “regular” workday, which may or may not include weekends and holidays.

 

Technical Experience:

  • Excellent math and communication skills.  Must be computer literate.
  • Ability to work alone/independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve issues with plant systems and instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of safe working practices and ability to recognize possible dangerous situations.

 

Physical Position Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and climb; occasionally the employee will be required to squat, crawl, crouch, kneel, balance, push/pull and reach above shoulder level.  Hands are used in repetitive motion for simple and firm grasping and manipulation on a continuous basis.

Due to the type of work performed and location of the work, the individual must be physically mobile; have the ability to communicate and be able to hear.

This position frequently lifts and/or moves 50 pounds test weights and occasionally test weights of 600 pounds (on transport carts).  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
